Innov+ has developed strong skills in Face Tracking, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. The company designs active safety systems for the driver’s vigilance assistance based on optical sensors and face tracking technology.
Patented face tracking software based on the driver’s emotions
Innov+ has developed a patented embedded software based on a model of face tracking of the driver’s emotions. The face tracking works out with a model which follows 68 spots on the driver’s face. All spots are processed 100 times per second in order to detect behaviour disorders through a change in the face : yawning, head movement, change of the eye rhythm, pupil dilation.
All these spots on the face are fused to the sensors coming from the device Toucango such as the GPS points that give the location and the speed, the clock which provides the time, and the accelerometer and the gyrometer which inform about the smooth driving and the jolts.
The algorithms developed by Innov+ thus allow to check if the driver keeps his eyes on the road and to determine if he is vigilant, inattentive, tired or in good shape.
Expertise in embedded electronics
The acquired experience of the co-founders of Innov+ has allowed the quick design of a specific hardware device embedded on automotive vehicles. This device is robust, removable and suitable for each driver. The electronics study carried out during 2 years has enabled the design of an optical and electronic card in collaboration with our subcontractors and the ecosystem of the IOGS – Optical Institute Graduate School.
This device analyses in real time the driver’s level of vigilance. The NIR optical sensor allows to track the driver’s eyes gaze, even with glasses and sun glasses.
Connected Object, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence
The device is connected. Therefore, it may create a community of vigilant drivers and use this vigilance Big Data for road safety. The goods and persons transport companies as well as the road safety actors will benefit from it.
The work which is beeing processed is aimed to build a Vigilance Big Data Platform matching with algorithms dealing with Artificial Intelligence that will be embedded in the device Toucango on vehicles. This will allow to make our alerts predictive and suitable to personal and environmental conditions.
The first aim is to build and integrate artificial intelligence algorithms in the sensor Toucango in order to predict and anticipate some risks and some faults at the wheel.
A patent was filed in July 2015 in order to protect our software developments and innovative devices on the detection and the alert of drowsiness at the wheel. A strategy to file this patent has been set up with IP Trust.
Innov+ has also designed and patented the trademark Toucango. The toucan will be our vigilant and friendly bird. Its various and bright colours similar to the colour of our alerts (green, orange and red) and its blue eye reminding liveliness and vigilance will allow us a professional and preventive communication to deal with vigilance at the wheel. The device Toucango must be adopted by the drivers.
